Day n Night

A hotel room on Christmas Eve,
A balcony, just you and me,
A view across the city bay
A view, that takes your breath away.

But seeing you against the rails
So beautiful the sunset pales.
Like a goddess crowned by light
From moonbeams shone on skin so white.

Then as shadows creep across the skies
Reality’s renewed its you and I.
Your hand in mine, I love you so
In my arms don’t ever go.

I kiss your lips, I hold you tight.
Suddenly, it all seems right
As time dissolves into the night
And darkness falls on city lights.

And with the darkness of that night
Our love has scaled the highest heights
For what seems the shortest time
The world is you and you are mine.

But night is night, and you are right
And what could be, and what could might,
Changed somehow and isn’t quite
Like night to day and day to night.
