Car Crash

by Rita   Jan 11, 2005

She held onto his hand tight,
as he drove away her pain,
one more night without him-
would have made her go insane

the rain, it kept falling fast
she stared out the window to gaze
noticing something coming towards them
but she couldnt make it out in the haze.

she grasped his hand even tighter
knowing what was about to come
she kissed him hard for one last time
before the damage was done

he lost control of the wheel
on that cold december day,
their youth was now in back of them
life's path was sent astray.

ambulances and policemen
surround the newly wrecked car
news spread quite rapidly
about the adventure that never got far

inside the freezing wreckage,
the rescuers stooped to see
a young boy and girl put to rest
but not very peacefully

yesterday was the day i died
a fatal crash for two
my boyfriend and i ended our lives
all because of you

the car that had hit ours-
me and my significant other
was nothing more than you;
I couldn't believe it- my mother.

as our spirits flew away
somehow we managed to land
i picked up a newspaper article
with a picture of us dead, hand in hand.

i liked it. little odd, killing yourself over your mother, seems a little worthless to me, but it was a good poem. :-p
