Lethe

by SCARECROW   Jan 12, 2005

Lethe is one of the rivers that separate Hades (aka the underworld, Hell) from the land of the living. The five rivers are
Acheron - the river of woe
Cocytus - the river of lamentation
Phlegethon - the river of fire
Lethe - the river of forgetfulness
Styx - the river of hate
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Rosebud drowning in a sea of petals.
Courtship rise, the past year dying.
Crying dewdrops onto the grass,
as the sky rains teardrops onto the floor.
The butterflies dance in joy,
now a nefarious chant.
The necropolis of existence
is no longer an empty entity.
It begins to crawl with life,
such forgetfulness.
Choleric is my incubus.
    i like how you play around with words of different 'emotion' (or whatever, it's the holidays, i dont like the thesaurus) and sometimes they're almost the antithesis of each other but you make them somehow compliment each other terribly well.
    I like it. Although your use of language to portray the scenes are not unheard of... ex. "Sky rains teardrops...butterflys dance in joy", I did like the vividness. I am questioning about the inner meaning, of the poeml, though.....but great work.
