SHOWED YOU THE LIGHT

by shae r   Jan 13, 2005

It’s been nine months today,
And I don’t think I can move on.
You were my absolute everything,
I still can’t believe that you’re gone.

If ever I felt weak,
I knew you’d be my strong.
Whenever I was with you,
I knew nothing could possibly go wrong.
If ever I felt cold,
I knew you’d hold me tight.
If ever there was darkness,
I knew you’d show me the light.

But something did go wrong,
The illness you did not fight.
And for the first time ever,
Someone showed you the light.

They showed you the light,
That guaranteed death.
You felt so cold that day,
The day you were put to rest.

I just want you to know,
That I’ll never forget your gentle touch.
And just because you’re not here with me,
Doesn’t mean I don’t love you as much.
And now lay next to my bed,
Your gift, a turtledove.
And although it was you heart that failed,
You still managed to find the love.
