In a Heartbeat

by RCM   Jan 14, 2005

My secret heart and I, together
Made a solemn secret vow
We swore that only us, together
Could resist the powers of love.

Tough and unified, my heart and I stood strong
We let so many years go by
Never once did we waiver
Never once did we go wrong.

Then a little too complacent, we let our guard drop down
And like a thief in the dark of night
When all defence was down
You came, and I found my heart had gone.

My heart and I have reconciled
We’re friends and one again
But in that deepest secret part of me
There lies a little fear.
