Swap Places

by Momentary Relapse   Jan 14, 2005

We look at each other
Two different faces
Two different people
Thinking to switch places

I think she has a great life
She suspects I have it made
We both want to swap places
From our own we want to fade

Surprised I am dressed in white
People around I don't know
They act like they know me
Each calling me Jo

A girl stands off a ways
She is clad in black
People dressed like her
Talking to her back

She wears short sleeves
Baggy black pants
Chains around her neck
Shoes for a dance

I am wearing long sleeves
And can feel some scars
The white clothes a mask
She isn't a star

I run to the restroom
She has done the same
She stares in disbelief
I gaze in shame

I want to be myself
Back in dark material
Not surrounded by lies
And scars industrial

She doesnt want to let go
For once not feeling pain
Then she feels my anger
That would drive her insane

I blink and Im back
No more pain only hate
Dressed again in black
As was my fate

She's with her pain
And for once feels great
No more consuming rage
Only her mistakes

We look at each other
Two different faces
Two different people
Never again to swap places
