As I Lay. . .

by Zackery   Jan 14, 2005

At night I wonder. . .
It’s such a shame,
Why can’t we see eye-to-eye?
Restless, I wander in my dreams
Taken away. . .

Finding a place where my wishes come true
A thousand shooting stars
And on every one I wished for you
For you to be mine,
For me to be yours
Standing on the shore,
With my back to the world
There came a glow from behind,
Shining off the water
And with a turn
I suddenly was facing the definition of beauty
You. . .

By your smile I was drawn in. . .
Still beaming and your hand held out
I reached out and found serenity
Time stopped…I’d found Perfection
With my hand in yours,
The shoreline in our view,
The moon overhead…Perfect. . .
With you in my arms,
The wind at our side,
A sense of un-needing for anything else. . .
Perfect. . .
At the end of the stone-gray pier,
Wrapped up in each other,
With your perfection surrounding me
My life would all at once leave me
Without the daily reminder of your brilliance,
Keeping me alive. . .

I’ve long since surrendered myself
To the pure flawlessness of the gorgeous you
. . . The Perfect you. . .
Wrapped up in the moment and content
All I want is to stay like this forever. . .
Then suddenly I am awoken from my dream. . .
