Since When

by Robyn Thomas   Jan 15, 2005

Since when has the grass been green?
Since when has the sky been blue?
These things I definitely have not seen
Since I ran into you

To me, the grass is always brown
And the sky is always grey
They used to be different when you were around
But now the truth has nestled in for a long stay

There are no such things as red roses
Except for the ones reddened by my blood
After I stand making ridiculous poses
After I stand in the mud

The flowers are always dying
The water is always unpure
No birds ever seem to be flying
And it doesn't look like there's a cure

The beautiful mountains are all just fake
Making up their own majesty
Their beauty equals naught compared to this single snowflake
This is a terrible tragedy

The rain is always falling
The clouds are always near
No one's walking, they're all crawling
Or are they even here?

This world is falling into decay
And I'm right in the middle
I lay down and think about this today
Like I did when I was little

So I ask you again....

Since when has the grass been green?
Since when has the sky been blue....?
