Demolition Premonition

by Michael D Nalley   Jan 15, 2005

I should have went home, and I should have past the finish line
I should have listened to my Lord. The mistake was all mine
I ran into someone in trouble, battered and she was not very fine
The red flag was definitely out, but I ignored the warning sign

I could have stayed clear of the demolition derby of my life
Looking for adventure and excitement can lead too much strife
Why did I enter the darkness with those no one really can trust?
Battling the demons of destruction with an unholy power lust

As I past through the familiar dark valley, I was confused and I took the wrong path
Now all I can do is pray for mercy, and use purgatory to escape eternal wrath
The demons are extremely unmerciful, but the merciful kind good Lord knows
Nothing good comes from the evil demons, and a better path can and should be chose

I hope and pray, Lord, that when the evil demons tempt me, that I have learned my lesson well
To look for the demolition premonition, to avoid the pain in the story I have to tell
It is not wise to mix business with pleasure, and I should have known before I fell
That the demons are thieves that want to steal a soul, and drag it into eternal hell

One wrong turn and the damage is done, so remember while you are out looking for fun
To escape the cross, carried by the Son, is an escape where battles cannot be won
