I pretend

I pretend to not see you
as you look me in the eye
I pretend to not see you
so you don't see me cry

I pretend to ignore you
so that I don't have to say
"I have no chance at all"
by the end of the day

I try to make you see
what is going through my head
but everytime I try
i think of what everyone has said

They say i have no chance
or that we won't last
and a part of me thinks that too
because of my former past

I wish i could somehow say
the things I feel inside
in a way for you to understand
so we could give it a try.
