My baby

I look into your big blue eyes,
I hear you laugh and see you grin,
And suddenly, I'm taken from the darkness,
And am happy once again.

My baby boy my little angel,
I thank God each day you're here
To ever lose you, have you ripped away,
Will remain my biggest fear.

For even though you're now a year old,
The facts they still remain,
You were still a preemie,
And there is still a chance,
That you'll slip again.

I couldn't believe it
when they told me you'd come early,
Couldn't accept that fact.
This was just one thing,
That I couldn't cover up
With my little "tough girl" act.

But the first time I heard you cry,
Saw you twitch
A great big tear,
Slowly escaped from my eye,
As I saw your little foot kick.

My heart melts each time you say my name,
And even if for only a minute,
Looking at you
I'm taken away from all the pain.
