Two Men Walked

by Dani Ward   Jan 17, 2005

Two men walked side by side,
down the path of Life,
one had not but the clothes on his back,
the other everything from toys to a knife.
the path split in two,
at a fork just ahead,
the left was narrow and straight,
the right broad under the Sun red.
the first man went left,
but the second couldn't fit his stuff,
so he went on to thes right,
it looked nice enough.
as he walked he grew tired,
so he just started to stand,
then he sat where he was,
on the path's soft sand.
the first man walked on,
thought the going was tough,
he never gave up and quit,
never said he'd had enough.
he reached a pearly gate,
it was heavens' front door,
his life had come to an end,
so he would live in heaven forevermore.
the second man was still sitting,
not moving in the least little bit,
he'd chosen the easy path,
and was being sucked into Hell's pit.
and angel came to him,
and told him this,
leave all your stuff behind,
on the narrow path is where you find bliss.
so he left all his things,
and went through the wood,
till he came upon the right path,
and follow it he would.
he met the first man in heaven,
who was the angel who helped him,
he thanked him for his words,
and forever they sing the Lord's hymn.

That is so beautiful It really capture's man's tendency to take the easy road.
