Glenda

by Michael D Nalley   Jan 17, 2005

I have known a long time, a woman named Glenda Petty
For many years our relationship has been steady
When it comes to work she is always ready
I have even seen her work when her health seemed unsteady

But I will cut out the small talk and get right to the point
We spend, a lot of time together, as friends, we are joint
As we both know the Lord does not disappoint
So we prayed to the Lord our friendship He would anoint

The bond that grew between us, which we could not deny
He answered our prayer in a twinkling of an eye
I have no doubt that our friendship will never die
Even if the course of our lives makes us say goodbye

She listens to me when I feel alone,
Then, feeds my soul with thoughts of her own
Which I know is difficult in the working zone
But she understands man does not live by bread alone

I believe it is seldom when we disagree
But when we do it seems to me
We work very hard to see
What our common ground could be

I am not a proud man, be it far from me
I don't pretend to have all the answers you see
But I can't help thinking what a great world it could be
If everyone worked together like Glenda and me
