In The Name of Love

by Melinda   Jan 18, 2005

How can I just let go
Of the only love I know
You expect me to forget
Move on and not regret
The day I lost you
Without a hint or clue
Everyday people tell me
I'll heal eventually
One day I'll love again
I'll forget you then
The pain will subside
I'll be rid of the hurt inside
The scars will heal
No more blood will spill
I'll laugh and smile
Tears stopping a while
I need to let go of you
It ain't easy to do
I found a way
To escape today
Over my skin I drag the blade
Till the world starts to fade
Numbing out the pain
Even the tears falling like rain
Tightly closing my eyes
Hear the lulling of my cries
Floating off to a land
You stretching out your hand
Leading me away
To another time, another day
Standing in a room
Filled of darkness and gloom
People huddled around
All silent not uttering a sound
Tears they all shed
For the young girl dead
Pushing through the crowd to see
Like a mirror reflection, the girl's me
Watching as they gather 'round
A whole deep in the ground
In my parents eyes the hurt
As my casket's covered in dirt
Catching a glimpse of you
You look as if you see me too
You shed a single tear
Do you feel my presence near?
Wiping your tear away
Whispering "It had to be this way
In the name of love I died
It hurt too much inside
Knowing we wouldn't be
Couldn't live without you, don't you see?"
