Too Old to Play Pretend

by livefreebright   Jan 19, 2005

We're getting a little older
Too old to play pretend
So don't sit there and tell me
That we are only friends

Don't you feel the charge
When we come together
Our love was meant to last
Always and forever

I see the look you give me
When my back is to your face
And I hear the things you say
That seem to put me in my place

The impact you have on me
And the negative things you say
Burn down into my heart
Where they will always stay

Don't pretend that you still care
When there's a girl waiting for your call
As soon as you get in the door
And push me to the wall

The way you talk to me
Acting like you care
But it's another setup
That my heart just can't bare

Another slap in the face
The business never fade
I want to say how much I care
But I'm always so afraid

Stop lying to my face
This isn't a game
You once told me you love me
Or at least that's what you claimed

Let's talk like adults now
I'm not going to cry and scream
Just want to know the truth
So I can wake from this dream

I'm begging with you now
I guess some things never change
You tell me you still care about me
But it's too late to rearrange

You’re with her now
But you say that you love me
I think something feels wrong here
There's something your hiding from me

Just stop playing this game
There is no loose or win
Just for once tell me the truth
Because I don't know where to begin

Look me deep in the eye
And swear to me this
This isn't pretend anymore
You are the one I'll always miss
