Spent so many days being a fool for you
Now he’s going on back home
We all know what he’s gonna do;
He’s gonna be a fool alone

But did n t I bless his heart one day
So innocent, such tender charm
Tell me why did you drive him away?
Cos you sure looked good hanging off his arm

And I guess you’ll see this is your mistake
And a fool though he may seem
A fool’s heart can still break

And I call him this as I watched you together
Despite the warning signs he was sure
You meant to keep him forever
But you v e made fools of boys before

And maybe I too am to blame
Should have spoken so he heard me clear
I’m gonna take fool from his name
Cos tonight, I’m gonna invite him on round here

And I see your pride let him go
But I can see in your eyes you love him

In this race those who break hearts, never win
