A Lonely Masterpiece

by Sarah   Jan 23, 2005

Does anybody see that girl
Quiet, sitting in her world
Lonely, but content she seems
Caught up in her dreams

She does not need possessions
Pity toys, obsessions
Star struck eyes that wander by
Glare at her beauty

Real as the great pine trees
Clear as the water of the seven seas
A painted angel fair and true
Her glowing hopes call for you

Mona Lisa, what makes you seem so strong
Mona Lisa, oh patient smile, what keeps you holding on
Lady of delight and happiness
Why is sadness in your eyes

Look at her, that smile cries
For a love, she’ll compromise
She longs for a hand to hold on to
When shes cold and framed, she needs you

Mona Lisa would you walk
Out from that pedestal of chalk
Mona Lisa tell me would you leave your holy home
If you found that someone

Would you leave the eyes that stare
At your beauty, sweet and fair
Would you disappeare into the air
And never return here

What is more preciouse to you
The caress of a loving hand so true
Or a throne, a grave of deceit
In a prison of art, you’re a masterpiece
