when our biggest worry
was what color to use
on our drawing of the day?

when we only cried
when we fell, tripped,
or got called a name?

when we didn't fear the unknown
and the whole entire world
was our friend?

instead of this hell
full of mistakes
and drugs
and alcohol

but this is not way back when.

if only today was then
and yesterday didn't happen
and we could be young again
