Embracing the Darkness

She crawls into a corner hugging the darkness
assuming no one is near
no one will hear
that there's nothing to fear

she talks to the darkness
embracing it yet
yet fighting it all the time
it helps her and hinders her

she sniffles as they argue
her and the darkness
thinking no one is around
thinking no one can hear
that there's no one to fear

are you crazy?
comes a shout
there was a listener
as she fought
fought with the darkness
and loved it all the same

why do you do this to me
she asks the darkness
you knew someone was there
am i really the bad

she runs into her room
opens her drawer
and sighs
as her blood flows freely to the floor

then her mom comes storming in
what are you doing i thought you stopped that she screams
why were you talking to no one are you insane

the little girl just kept on cutting as she pushed past
past her mother and back down
down to the darkness
