This girl

by Daniel J   Jan 24, 2005

There was this girl,
it was her that I liked,
there was no one else.

She liked me too;
and we would sit,
to talk the night through.

All the way through,
to the early morn,
until the breaking of the dawn,

I'm not amazed that
there were many days,
which saw this phase.

we sat together at length,
our relationship,
going from strength to strength.

Upon watching a sunset,
I made known my mindset,
and said to her three words.

She smiled,
She laughed,
She even looked happy.

But the true feelings were revealed,
Our fate through which was sealed,
by the words she spoke

"No that is not it. That is not what I meant,
Not what I had meant at all."
Her love for me was not,
and it had never been.

The poem is yet another one of my experiments. Sorry.

This is one of the first - if not the first poem - where I have used gender. The reason is because I was writing more about myself than "two people" which is usually the case in my poetry. Though it reflects my feelings, It is, however, a bit extreme at time of writing, though one day long ago it wasn't.

Tell me what you think though.
