In One Man's Eye

A long time ago
When pirates ruled the seas
Men and women
Would do as they please

The men would drink
Till their stomachs burst
The women would raise a son
With just as much thirst

They'd hop on their ships
And fight for land and gold
They seemed so happy
And never seemed to grow old

One day aboard
The greatest ship of their time
The pirates heard words
About a mystery gold mine …

Their ears pricked up
And they grew hungry for it
They would see of competition
And take home very last bit

Soon they found the island
And they walked up the sand
They placed a flag down
And claimed it as their land

The natives of the country
Were people of peace and grace
And didn't like seeing these pirates
Running about their place

They held their own
But the pirates number grew
And the natives could see
There was nothing they could do

And now when you go to that land
The people call it their home
But this isn't so, this land they've conquered
Was never theirs to own.
