Drunk driver

by stephalee   Jan 26, 2005

As a tear drop rolls down her face
She knows no one can ever take his place

As she sits on her swings and starts to cry
She just wonders why couldn't she have been the one to die

Why couldn't the car hit the driver’s side
Then he could walk away with just the limp in his stride

As she cried she just wished he was here
Someone to help wipe away all the tears

If they had stayed at the party a little longer
He would be with her each day getting stronger

But now he fills an early grave
Because when the paramedics arrive there was nothing left to save

As she looked at the pictures of the horrible scene
It broke her heart, he was only sixteen

If only he wasn’t too drunk to drive
Maybe they both could be alive

Yet there was nothing she could do to bring him back
So she decided to fill up her knapsack

She decided that she would run away
No one knows where she is to this very day

She was just filled with so much pain
That she increasingly began to go insane

She roams a forest of thick wood
Nothing will ever be, as it should

They say the last time they saw her she was on the street
Finding new places and people to meet

She’s gone good to bad
Everything in her life is all plain and sad

As goes to her friend and takes a drag
And gets her own pot out of her stolen bag

What would it be if he were still there
There would not be the scent of smoke lingering in her hair

Walking down the street it was getting late
The coming of being raped was in her fate

She did not struggle but enjoyed it instead
To high to know what happened after lying still in his bed

If he was still here
Her life would be filled with happiness and cheer

He lifted her up when she was feeling down
But now on her face is a constant frown

Her life has seemed to go down the drain
She lives in constant pain

One day she took the blade
As she cut memories began to fade

This is the life she chose
She dug deep in her pocket and found a small rose

The same rose he had given her that night
The night he struggled to put up a fight

As a tear escaped from her swollen eye
She silently then began to cry

Emotions fled
Soon she will be dead

All she could do was ask herself why
Why wasn’t she the one to die

Now it was her turn
As her stomach began to churn

She will meet him again
And all she can think of how long it has been

And she placed the rose on her chest
She then went to sleep for a long quiet rest
