Ode to Rag Dolls

Love seems to find a way
To the heart of a lonely soul
It fills a need unnoticed
By making a part a whole.
It conquers your life so gracefully;
You haven’t the chance to protest.
You love the beauty of it all:
To give and not to request.
You’ve a new set of feelings from deep in your heart
And a new kind of life
That you’re hoping to start.
You’ve got brand-new tomorrows
With a new set of dreams:
While today is are awaiting
Your plans and your schemes
There’s no stopping you now.
You’re on top of the world
There’s now a women
Where there once was a girl.
Then what’s real unearths
Its crazy game.
Love leaves so differently
From how it first came.
A love that lasts forever
Just isn’t mean to be.
It starts out in a whirl wind
And ends in tragedy.
A lesson’s well earned
When the hurting starts.
A life has been shattered
With one broken heart.
On the shelf sits a rag doll
In a soiled blue gown
She’ll see your tears
And she’ll see your frowns.
Alone she was left
In the dark of the night.
While you danced with a stanger
‘Till the dawn’s early light.
She’s now your comfort.
She’s now your ease.
Though she’s only a rag doll
Her aim is to please.
She’ll still be there
When darkness falls again,
For you’ll have other lovers
But only she is your friend.
