My EX best friend

I think about the past
How our relationship was before
Then I see all the changes
So much isn't the same anymore

We were such good friends
Best friends to be exact
Always there for each other
For then it was a fact

You could always find us together
Laughing about jokes no one else understood
Or talking and sharing tears
Helping like only a friend could

We'd be on the phone
Or talking on the net
About endless things
Yet our topic was never set

Switching off from boys to gossip
From laughs to tears
Listening intently
Helping them through their fears

We had become friends so quickly
Not even a month had past
We were sharing our secrets
We’d built this trust so fast

And now I look back
My smile has faded and is gone
These memories don't make me happy
I just wish I could move on

Things aren’t the same
You're not that same person
Our friendship is different
This pain makes me just want to run

Sure we're still friends
We still talk and hang out
I don't know about you
But to me that’s not what it’s all about

You're not there for me
As I'm no longer there for you
After just one thing
There's nothing we can do

I can't tell you things
It’s hard to open up to you
When I try, you're never there
So I’m kind of mixed up on what to do

Our friendship is drifting
So very far apart
I see you differently
You no longer have that place in my heart

You now call someone else your best friend
The same person that made us apart from each other
I guess you forgot what you told me
That we'd always be best friends forever…
