Do you remember...

by Johnny Marlin 2   Jan 30, 2005

Do you remember
The times we had
The days spent together
Both the good and the bad

Do you remember
When we'd walk all night long
The warm pumpkin spice coffee
When nothing could go wrong

Do you remember
Before our love sailed
When I was in the Army
The letters you mailed

The enjoyment I felt
Just knowing you cared
Words cannot describe
The emotion is so rare

Do you remember
When I walked in the rain
A twelve mile journey
I thought I'd go insane

But then you were there
In front of my tired eyes
Like an angel stepped down
From heaven's parted skies

Do you remember
The apartment we found
Laying together at night
Our love closely bound

Do you remember
The Mt. Washington skyline
Holding hands at the lookouts
Watching Pittsburgh's light shine

Do you remember
All the feelings we had
Looking back on those days
Makes me overwhelmingly sad

If I had just one wish
I would turn back time
To the days we were happy
When you were truly mine

I hope you remember....
I know I always will...

I could have written a novel on this subject. I actually modified this entry a lot, it was originally 22 stanzas, but I decided to shorten it. This is for my dear Alexis. The love of my life...

Typical love poem, except yours is so much better than most of the love poems that are submitted. Your story is descriptive and moving. I liked it.

amazing and yet such a beautiful poem that i would enjoy reading over and over again not getting tired of reading the love and experiencing the magic words. personally, i think you should write a novel on the subject. i think it would be a number one seller!

Beautiful, emotional. Admittedly, I would have enjoyed reading the full poem as first written. Love never ends, it but changes, and sometimes in wonderful and even more appropriate manners. I had one love who became one of my best friends to this day, and that's probably the best role for the two of us despite how passionately it began.

Regardless, you make me think of those times and loves left from my own life. Great poem, albeit sad.
