Slipping away

Happiness is so short lived
This life is full of tears
Whenever I think I can make it
I'm confronted by my many fears
Everything that was near to me
Now seems so very far
Trying to hold on to a single smile
Because every hurt has left a scar
I'm here all by myself
As everything slowly slips away
Wish I could live in my dreams because
I'm scared to open my eyes each day
Whenever I'm ready for someone to love me
I realize they won't
And whenever I'm ready to let someone care
I realize they don't
