Death Row

by Kia   Jan 31, 2005

Sitting alone eating his last meal
Trying not to show his fear
And the pain inside that he does feel

Trying to hide all of this regret
He's really truly sorry
It's a mistake he cannot forget

A mistake that cost him a lot
He thought it was the perfect crime
That he couldn't get caught

Jealous of his neighbor, wanting his wife
In a fit of jealous rage and envy
He decided to take his neighbor's life

Recalling the events of the day
When his sentence was read
With his life he must pay

Sitting alone in his cell
Counting down the days
Till the day he goes to hell

When the day is finally here
He says goodbye to his kids
And wife, as he wipes the tear

"I love you" his last words said
As he lays down and stretches out
And is strapped on to the bed

As the needle penetrates his skin
And his lethal injection is complete
His wife beings to mourn for him

This is a lesson to learn
What you do will haunt you
What you do will return

I liked your poem, and it had a good moral to it.....although I don't personally support the death penalty, I do believe that what goes around comes around.....
