Smoke and Mirrors

by Michael D Nalley   Feb 1, 2005

Do you think your whole life is a joke?
Can you see past the mirrors, and smoke?
Have your illusions become like an oak?
Too strong to change a heart that has been broke?

If you could see the truth when the smoke is cleared
The true reality that you dreaded and feared,
Is a reflection of what is a troubled past,
Caused by all of the illusions that will not last.

It is far better face what is true and real
The Lord’s truth can save, and the Lord’s love can heal,
The pain of the broken heart that you may feel,
Because your life has been less than ideal

We must escape the smoke in order to reflect,
God’s love of his people, a love that is perfect,
Open our hearts and let the light of love in,
The light of Christ dispels the darkness of sin

No truer words have ever been spoken,
To a confused heart that has been broken
That Jesus loves us. I know that is true
He died for the sinners like me, and you
