This Broken Path

Another empty promise,
Left along this broken road,
Empty words that were well intentioned,
But have now grown gray and cold.

A million fleeting glances,
That you seductively passed my way,
Are scattered on the road sides,
And they sit there and decay

Too many sad goodbyes,
Have been proceeded with “I’m back,”
Too many hurtful memories,
Have forced my heart to crack.

The way that you watch me now,
As I kiss my last good bye,
As I tell you you broke my heart,
The way I see you cry,

Makes me wonder,
Makes me ache,
For again I know,
My heart will break,

If I don’t leave now,
And never look back,
And continue along
This broken path.
