Dead -And So Was I

by Unseen Exposure   Feb 3, 2005

The black heart inside her body that she used to gracefully posses
Beats no more, its been tossed away from airless lungs within her chest

I tried looking into her eyes, but they were sealed around the rims
And I noticed stale, cold tears scattered around her eyelid brims

I tried to hold her hand, but it was clenched tight and fisted
Her mangled body was positioned so broken up and twisted

I tried whispering in her ears that it would all be okay
But they were stitched and bruised, she'd never hear what I had to say

I tried to give her air, but her mouth was tapered closed
And I noticed that some blood had slipped out from her nose

I tried to warm her body with the shirt from off my back
But her soul was frozen over, mixed with colors of blue and black

I tried to pick her up and put her in a position so she could fly
But she collapsed back to the floor, it's like she couldn't even try

I tried to be the angel from the heavens that gave her wings to soar
But from the way she laid so still, her chance of fleeing would be a chore

I tried to hold her tightly so she'd feel my presence and awake
But she looked so fragile, I was afraid that she might break

I sat back down against the wall and buried my face in my knees
"I've never seen such a tattered sight, someone save her please!!"

The tears fell from my wounded eyes, I felt scarred from what I saw
The way she lay so helplessly, how her skin was thin and raw

It broke my heart to sit there and know there was nothing I could do
No careful words of wisdom, no shining hope to get her through

So helplessly I laid down by her side and let out a muffled cry
As I realized this broken girl was dead ... and with her, so was I.

Yet another amazing peice of work. I really liked this one, Reminds me of someone in a depressed state, not wanting to accept help, just lounging in self-pity, until it's too late. Take care, I loved this peice...

    ..............Stunning.
Left me breathless, this is, fantastic.
Pure beauty what can I say to put in to words the superb atmosphere this created?
the symbols you used were horrific and graphic, thus adding a desired effect to the peice to portray the pain and sufferage taken upon the girl's form. One example of these lovely lines that I really admired,
"I tried looking into her eyes, but they were sealed around the rims
And I noticed stale, cold tears scattered around her eyelid brims"
It's so terribly painful it adds to the main object of the writing and really contributes to the pain inside the story.
I also liked how you wrote about the attempts to save the girl that all failed. That really portrayed the helplessness the girl was feeling, to sit there and not be able to redirect what was happening.
the last lines were absolutly beautiful, and left me breathless with the rest of the piece.
    Dark and utterly lovely, excellent
