Three Little Words

by dandy   Feb 4, 2005

Carnations of the deepest red,
and roses in light pink.
Emotion comes hidden in those petals,
and in a love-note's ink.

Tart candy dances on the tongue;
all that sugary bliss.
But sweetness still dare's not compete,
with a single valentine's kiss.

Compassionate words flow out the mouth
and to awaiting ears.
The drops that roll on this sweet day,
are the happiest of tears.

A traditional proposal,
waits to be spoken aloud.
On this day rings are exchanged,
along with loving vows.

But these things so many people
have yet to enjoy,
Because they have no one to love,
or their heart's played like a toy.

A dreamy holiday it is,
but only for a few.
The words *I love you* on this day
are often so untrue.

So put aside the flowers,
the notes and the love birds,
because so much pain be ensued,
when uttering those three little words.........
