Family Fight

by Unknown2Thyself   Feb 4, 2005

Huddled in a corner crying,
listening to their yelling.
Waiting for my dad to stop swearing,
waiting for my mom to stop screaming.

I listen to the glass breaking,
and I hear the door slam.
I can hear my mom sobbing,
and I know dad's left.

I crawl out of my hiding place,
and look at my mom through the railings.
I can see her tears flowing,
and I watch as she picks up the glass.

She looks up to see me,
she smiles at me through her tears.
I run into her open arms and hold her close,
I hide my face in her shoulder.

She whispers in my ear,
telling me everything will be OK.
I know it's not true,
But I just want to believe it.
