Down by the willow tree.

by ?   Feb 5, 2005

I sit down by the willow tree,
Looking out on this life of mine,
Tears running down my face,
But my eyes still have no shine,
They are dull and numb to the tears,
They have become so painfully dark,
I cannot look inside of them any longer,
The many words have left their cold mark.

I rest my head against the cool bark,
Of this tree I have known for so long,
Whenever I have felt sad, lost and numb,
I’ve come to where I belong,
The branches hang down and hide me,
From the burning eyes I face everyday,
They protect me, wrap round me,
Give me the comforting arms that make me feel okay.

In the darkest hours, I have ventured to this place,
When she shouts them words of hate,
I run to this world, where I can dream off,
I stay here and just await,
I come home later, with no one to notice,
In the arms of the willow tree I can stay forever,
I make my own world, where she loves me,
Where I’m not me, anything else, not just whatever.

You don’t know I come here,
You don’t think I have anywhere to run,
But this is the one thing I do have,
I’m on my own, in the place of none,
Down by the willow tree,
Is where my tears, blood and dreams lay,
Down by the willow tree,
Are where my thoughts and worries drift away.
