Waiting

by Jammie Hinton   Feb 7, 2005

A clash of lightning,
A roll of thunder,
A girl standing outside,
Alone in a field,
Staring at the sky.
Rain stings her eyes
Like a thousand yellow jackets,
But she just stands there,
Waiting...
For what?
She herself doesn't know.
She's just waiting
For something unknown.
She's been left alone
For hours, days, months, years,
Though no one knows.
She seems like a normal girl,
But inside her dark heart
She's screaming for help.
No one listens.
She's alone, by herself.
She's scared,
No one cares.
She's dying inside,
No one notices.
She's alone,
No one sees.
Still waiting.
A broken heart,
Black and cold.
Loneliness.
Perhaps she was waiting for
Someone to notice
Her pain,
Her tears,
Her hatred,
Her.
No one does.
She's still alone,
Crying in her mind,
In her sleep,
In her heart.
Another clash of lightning,
Another roll of thunder.
She's still standing there,
Waiting...
