Tearful Canvas

by Scarlette   Feb 7, 2005

These melting clocks and Mona Lisa smiles
Mixed up in the squares of Picasso’s lies
You painted this landscape, this figment of love
On this canvas, like Waterlilies, trapped in my cries

I walk on the edge of your last supper
I swing on the side of yesterday’s screams
I stray on the corner of life’s final judgement
I pray on the promises of starry night dreams

This garden of delights in your sinister words
Forging this theme, this sleeping gypsy-like prose
No more Sunday afternoons on your island of pretend
The nightwatch creeps forward, towards this tainted bitter end
