Bless Your Soul

by Kaitlin Kristina   Feb 8, 2005

I hear a voice,
On the phone,
I listen close,
I’m home alone.

It’s late at night,
And the storm rolls on,
From dusk,
Until the lonely dawn.

The tears start to rise,
As I hear the words,
Spearing my heart,
And my vision blurs.

I fall to the floor,
The phone drops from my hand,
And the tears begin coursing,
The truth, I can’t stand.

I scream out loud,
And I hit the floor,
I’m beating the wood,
And my hands are soar.

Minutes go by,
Proceeded by hours,
And the clock ticks slowly,
My heart it devours.

A moment without you,
Is too much to stand,
And here I am now,
All alone in this land.

The screams are calmed,
The movement stops,
I’m curled up on the floor,
With streaming tear drops.

They are all that I have now,
What keep me warm,
At least until,
Our child is born.

He will miss his daddy,
And I will too,
But I will raise him well,
And right for you.

He will take your name,
You’ll take my heart,
And you’ll have it forever,
Like you did from the start.

I imagine the crash,
Just like they said,
When the truck never stopped,
And you hit your head.

Small whimpers of “why?”
Come from my lips,
My lips that right now,
Just miss your kiss.

Where you went,
God only knows,
But I pray for you,
That he bless your soul.
