Whatever Happened?

I walk beside you on this road
as you do next to me.
We laugh, we talk, we smile and cry,
and barely disagree.

Everything was going fine
until he came along.
It was alright for quiet some time,
but now it's going wrong.

Is he all you care about,
your friends lost and forgotten?
All of us, we feel quiet sad.
Not to mention rotten.

It was fine with just the two of us,
only you and me.
But now it is just you and him,
as I become number three.

I can't keep up with your pace anymore,
for help now, I do call.
But you're with him and away from me,
so quickly I do fall.

We spend less time together,
and when we talk it's about him.
I'm happy for you and all,
but sadness is running slim.

Whatever happened to the friendship,
that at one time we had?
Was it just a short-term deal;
Perhaps a stupid fad?

This thing you have is awesome,
love is very sweet.
But friendship now is pushed aside,
and it is nearly beat.

Come back here to me, please!
Just quickly, one more thing.
Love is good, but there's another type.
One only friends can bring.

It's sort of sad when your friend gets a boyfriend and you feel pushed aside....
