Time Flies By

by Tanya, Mom of one.   Feb 9, 2005

I remember when I was a kid,
My life just beginning.
Innocence was all there was,
Playing a game and winning.

Joyful times in school with friends,
Kicking back, no worries.
Thinking these times would never end,
Never in a hurry.

Summer days spent lazily,
Laying by the pool.
Hoping you looked good in a bathing suit,
Making some poor guy drool.

Winter time all cuddled up,
With your boyfriend in the hall.
At that age, I was full of life,
And sure I'd seen it all.

Time flew past, with just a blink,
I've turned into "One of those".
The ones we used to look at,
When 30 seemed so old.

I've got bills, and a child,
Not married, but content.
Name brands dont matter anymore,
But for my daughter, I'll spend my last cent.

No more innocence, it was lost,
Several years ago.
But memories of my past,
I'll never let them go.

Childhood and innocence,
For me is a thing of the past.
For all of you who are in a hurry,
Slow down and make it last.

Before you know it, it will be gone,
And remembering is all you'll do.
Thinking back to times you had,
When things were simple for you.
