Darkest Love

by Stef   Feb 9, 2005

I gave away innocence for a taste of you kiss
And left behind childhood so I could grow in your arms
And as you walked away under that bright midnight sky
I shivered from the breeze that extinguished your heart.

The stars lit up the sky and I wished on each one
Begging them to make you run back to my open arms
Which remained waiting for you for the rest of the night
Until the sun blessed the sky with its presence.

The waves lapping on the beach slowed with my sorrow
And sympathized with my pain as they parted from shore
A broken heart lying bruised on the white summer sand
Cried for the loss of their darkest love.

Shifting my face to the sky I breathed in the humid air
That surrounded my soul and suffocated my hope
By showing me now the empty world around me
My life drowned in the emptiness you left in my heart.

The bright summer sun faded into midnight black tears
As I sobbed for my only as you faded into the night
And left behind my tattered body, scarred from your love
As I prayed for my innocence to take away your kiss.
