Destined To Loneliness

by Andrea   Feb 9, 2005

Trapped in a lonely tower,
I am stranded from life by a million miles.
Out my window I can see love by the hour,
But it cannot reach to greet me with smiles.

The birds may chirp of certainty,
And the sun may be radiant with its beam,
But when will my reality
Be like the wonders that I dream?

Beautiful music plays as I fade.
A man’s voice dares to startle me.
He calls out and asks for my aid.
I peak out my window and perceive.

Not a word can describe the moment.
Magic like a rainbow reflecting in the rain.
Oh did we stare, and believed this was meant.
I became so lifted with no sadness or pain.

His eyes simply gaze into mine.
“May I ask why such a lady of great fair
Is hidden so far in a place not that fine?”
He inquired with serenity and care.

“Abandoned from love and kindled of hate,
Only moments ago did I believe it was my fate.”

His love for me did free my shadows.
Off we went to dance in our fairy tale.
Never did I think it would transform into woes.
Soon was I wrong and our love became pale.

Time grew short on our affection.
Seasons changed but ‘twas all a blur.
All great loves end up with an infection,
But mindlessly are always there to remember.

Why must it be so complicated?
Dare I run again afraid from this hurt?
My heart lies broken and I’m now obligated.
I must go and be shunned before its worse.

His memory will not be forgotten.
Still it flutters painfully in my mind
While I stay forever condemned and hidden
In this lonely tower no one shall find.
