As I fade

by Luke   Feb 10, 2005

I take a final breath and clutch the hand that's laid before me
A willing guide who promises to lead me through the doorway
A threshold to another place unlike I've ever seen
And as I fade, I turn my head, to feel this welcomed breeze

A sigh of joy escapes me tainted with a secret wallow
I take the hand of my angel guide and then proceed to follow
I soar by flashes, a younger man I slowly learn is me
And as I fade, I realize, it's a memory from a dream

A silhouette, a crimson fear, a sadness wells inside me
I've whispered my soliloquy and then receded quietly
My own, short life was taken from me by my selfish plights
And as I fade, I sympathize, for all those who have cried

As a tear falls from my eye, not for me but for them
I realize my selfishness did never help my friends
A parable, a simple tale, that says that you'll be missed
So as I fade, remember that life isn't all just bliss
remember
