Sunset

by darkheart   Feb 10, 2005

The dim yellow glow across the horizon,
This was where I first met you
Darkening water and darkening rocks.
It was just your charm that had me moved.

The water temperature had dropped low.
For the sun had decided to set.
The coldness surrounding chilled me to the soul.
The splashing of water was so wet.

This is where we had our first kiss.
This moment, this place, it’s all ours.
We had so much fun and so much bliss,
Why have you asked me here at this hour?

This doesn’t reel right, why don’t you speak?
Is there something wrong? Seems like it’s so cold...
There goes the chattering of my teeth.
It’s like being wrapped in a blanket of snow.

You had promised that we’d be forever.
That your heart would be on one else but mines,
But now that we’re on this lonely shore,
You say we were not meant to be entwined.

I don’t know why and I don’t understand.
Why you avoid my eyes and gaze at the sand?
You turned your back and I knew what it meant.
That this could be nothing else but the end,
But my heart just wouldn’t comprehend.
