Too Late

by bleedingsoul   Feb 10, 2005

The knife I used is placed by my grave.
The tears silently and softly
Drop on the earth.
Words are whispered softly.
Soft footsteps move to and from me.
The one I love walks up,
I can hear his heart beating fast.
His footsteps soft and light,
As if trying not to wake me.
He bends near my heart and whispers,
“You’ll always be in my heart. I love you.”
He kissed my stone and stood up again.
A single tear falls as he walks away.
The words were sweet and simple.
I had longed to hear him say those words.
His love was truly pure, simple and real.
The thing is...
He was too late.
