Cruel Dreams

I gave you my heart
and put you in my dreams,
you filled me up with absorbent lies
and laughed with cruelty in my cries.

All I ever was added up to a joke
burned up my heart with anguish
for your sick mind to taper with
surrounding me with love that never exists.

I fell in a dream losing my touch of reality,
fell for a man of imagination
ripped my heart into shreds and cut me deep,
when you promised I was yours to keep.

Broken to the core,
bleeding from torn seams
I thought I was something worthy
but I still existed as me.
