By the water hole

by Sinister Soire   Feb 14, 2005

*jotted down in english while reading grapes of wrath, and looking at a photo from the time period(i now this one sucks)*

Water droplets falling
Hair washed in cold
The conditions appalling
The stagnant water old

Times have grown hard
The ages pass in silence
The perfect lived been marred
And a depression without violence

What days are these
Where the river is a bath?
All infested with fleas
Scarcely is there a laugh

The men they wait
And watch and listen
For the conditions to abate
Destroyed by the god Christian

Hours of quiet loneliness
Days stretching end to end
Drifting back to consciousness
For this broken country to mend

A photo graph of this
Is just a fragment of time
Where all appears as bliss
Though most scarcely own a dime
