Why roses

by Sinister Soire   Feb 14, 2005

Today is the day for love
Set apart from the rest
Today you tell all your secrets
To the one that you love best

Why is it however that we give
Roses to show our devotion
They are red like soaking rags
And die like most devotion

Roses are such a gloomy flower
They have so meek short lives
Blood red like broken hearts
Sharp thorns remind of knives

Think about it before you give
The holy gift of roses
Take another look from close
The love that it opposes

So remember when you give a rose
It seems you want revenge
Stabbing knives into your hands
And instead give them to avenge
