WHAT FOREVER IS

She thought their love was forever
at least that's what she heard from him
but looking back on their memories
she knew the chance of forever was slim.

His love grew weary and faded
and no longer was she in his heart
for now he has another love
and it's slowly tearing her apart.

He was all she's ever wanted
but he no longer felt the same
now when he is in need of guidance
he calls upon another's name.

Her thoughts reflected upon him daily
it was like that was her only chore
but she knew he didn't want to be burdened
because he didn't love her anymore.

The pain was more than she could handle
so she swallowed more than one pill
for if the heartbreak didn't kill her
then surely this way out will.

And before she took her last breath
she thinks once more of his sweet kiss
and now she finally finds her forever
because death is the only forever there is.
