Pretend for the Better

by kelsielaroche   Feb 16, 2005

I know it's the end of everything,
But can we just pretend like you loved me all along?
As if I never cried over you,
Like you always understood,
Or is that too hard to ask?

I don't think you'll ever leave my mind,
You're engraved in me,
It's not a crime,
Something that we can't commit to,
It just shows how much I hate you.

If this is what you want,
Than I have no right to stop you,
But I have the right to tell you how I feel,
But I won't,
I'll give you my heart instead,
Wear it on your sleeve,
And when people ask,
"Who owns that black heart?"
You can say,
"Someone who I should've loved from the start."
