Innocence

by Jacklyn   Feb 16, 2005

“Court is now in session,”
The bailiff said aloud,
Him and his lawyer then sat down,

The jury reached a verdict,
The defendant was so nervous,
A jury of men and women,
Would change his fate for good,

The judge faced the jury,
And asked one simple thing,
“Have you decided on a verdict?”

One jury then took a stand,
“Yes your Honor,
We find the case of the defendant,
Mr. Mandan vs. the people,

Guilty of all his actions,
The knife he used matched perfect,
Fingerprints were his for sure,

His alibi is nothing,
Him motive is so clear,
It was an anonymous decision,
All 12 agreed, he was guilty with the deed,”

The jury member sat down,
The judge then opened his mouth,
“Mr. Mandan shall be sentenced to jail for life,

Accused for murder and rape,
He will never see the sun shine free.
Bailiff take this man away.”

The bailiff followed orders,
Took the man away,
But will anyone ever know,
The man going to jail is the most innocent one in this room today,

The judge and jury were all wrong,
Leading his family to believe the same,
He didn’t rape or kill the little girl,

Making two lives so innocent a waste,
A little girl only 10 and a teenage boy,
Their lives were taken away,
The teenage boy that went to jail,
Was the man that I just framed.
