Wilted Rose

by Tainted Butterfly   Feb 17, 2005

A wilted flower without sunshine hardly grows
Into the beauty of a rose
Wilted flowers sit and wait in their darkened gloom
Until someone teases it to open, encourages it to bloom
My tears gave the water
a mighty river's flood
Still my rose petals weren't strong enough to bud
Then one day the sun peaked from the clouds and came into view
It was the very day I first encountered you.
My rose already had it's growing seed
Sometimes love is all that is left to need
So the wilted rose no longer hovered over
It looked up to the sun without a gloomy cover
The petals opened to show what was inside
A beauty all it's own that all believe had died
Wilted roses are among us in every garden, in every soul
Sometimes only one gardener, one person is all it takes to make it whole.
